RESIDENCE floats

This is a three-story steel-framed house for a family of six located in the south of Kyoto City. The surrounding area is crowded with buildings for various purposes, such as companies, factories, and homes, and is not necessarily a good living environment. One of the inevitable requests born from such a location was a bright and open space while ensuring the privacy of the family. Therefore, the third floor, which is closest to the sun, has a "floating ceiling" and the ceiling and walls are cut off with glass all around, allowing indirect natural light to be brought in, giving it a moderate sense of openness. On the second floor, a "floating garden" with a lawn surrounding it that takes up half of the area is created, creating a "place" where family, friends, and relatives can gather. This "floating garden" also plays an important role in bringing natural light directly into the entire house. And finally, there is the "floating staircase" outside, which is one of the points that makes this house stand out. Floating x floating x floating = floats.
