T-Square Design Associates

大阪市内に建つ古いオフィスビルのリノベーションである。趣があるレンガタイル貼りの外観は竣工当時の面影を十分感じさせる雰囲気が漂い、良い感じのレトロ感を醸し出している。そこで、外観の雰囲気を内部空間に再構築出来ないかと考えた。最近雑誌の誌面などで、よく見かける、なんでもかんでも壁や天井仕上げを全て引っ剥がし、躯体や設備を表しにしてデザインにしてしまう手法は、このビルには合わない。せっかくビルが持つ個性を奪い、別の個性を押し付けるのではなく、その個性を伸ばす方法を取るべきだろう。それは、結果的にビルの価値を高めることに繋がり、しいては「良い」テナントに入ってもらえることにもなる。そして、それこそが建築家がビルオーナーに対して果たすべき役割であると考える。

This is a renovation of an old office building in Osaka City. The quaint brick-tiled exterior has a good retro feel, and is reminiscent of the original appearance. So, we tried to recreate the atmosphere of the exterior in the interior space. The method often seen in magazines recently, where all the wall and ceiling finishes are stripped away and the structure and equipment are left exposed, does not suit this building. Rather than taking away the individuality of the building and imposing a different one, we thought that it was important to find a way to develop that individuality. This will ultimately increase the value of the building, and thus attract "good" tenants. And we believe that this is the role that architects should play for old building owners.
