T-Square Design Associates

京都市内の二条室町に建つ4人家族のためのバレースタジオ付鉄骨3階建て住宅である。1階がバレースタジオ、2階及び3階が住居となっている。敷地は、間口が6ｍ、奥行25ｍと、南北方向に細長い「京都らしい」土地である。また、景観上の外観規制もあったが、京都市と協議を重ね、景観に関する審査会の承認を経て、着工に至っている。1階がバレースタジオのため、出来るだけ有効なダンススペース（この場合間口）を確保することや、リフティングに対応するための天井高さを確保するなど、京都のスケール感に対しては厳しい条件だったが、屋根を南北方向に流れる切妻とし、前面道路に向かって屋根を下げ、庇の高さなどの水平ラインを隣の古い町家に合わせることで、どうにか街のスケール感に馴染むよう、意識している。

This is a three-story steel-framed house with a ballet studio for a family of four, located in Nijo Muromachi, Kyoto City. The first floor is the ballet studio, and the second and third floors are the residences. The site is long and narrow from north to south, with a width of 6m and a depth of 25m, making it a typical Kyoto-style lot. There were also restrictions on the exterior appearance from a landscape perspective, but after repeated discussions with Kyoto City and approval from the landscape review committee, construction began. Since the first floor is a ballet studio, the conditions were strict in terms of the scale of Kyoto, such as securing as much usable dance space (in this case the width) as possible and securing ceiling height to accommodate lifting. However, by making the roof a gabled roof that flows from north to south, lowering the roof toward the front road, and matching the horizontal lines such as the height of the eaves to the old townhouses next door, the house was made to somehow blend in with the scale of the city.
