芦屋市内で80年の歴史を持つ渡辺産婦人科の新しいRC造、3階建ての医院である。ここで最も意識したのは、歴史の継承である。渡辺産婦人科と言えば、芦屋では誰もが知っている3代続く老舗の産婦人科である。80年の歴史の重み。歴史ある芦屋の山手幹線沿いという場所性。そして産婦人科としての温かみや優しさの表現。これらの多様な条件は、形態や素材、ディティールのバランスに注意し、建物に「重み」を持たせる表現により、歴史や場所性に負けないものとしている。そのために、それら全ての表現要素の関係性については、かなりの時間を費やして検討した。これから先、何十年と続くであろう渡辺産婦人科の新たな歴史を刻むに相応しい建物であるかを常に心掛けながら創り上げた作品である。

This is a new three-story reinforced concrete building for Watanabe Obstetrics and Gynecology, which has 80 years of history in Ashiya City. The most important thing we were conscious of here was the continuation of history. Watanabe Obstetrics and Gynecology is a long-established obstetrics and gynecology clinic that has been in business for three generations and is known to everyone in Ashiya. The weight of 80 years of history. The location along the historic Yamate main road in Ashiya. And the expression of warmth and kindness as an obstetrics and gynecology clinic. These various conditions were met by paying attention to the balance of form, materials, and details, and by expressing the building with "weight," it was made to stand up to the history and location. To that end, we spent a considerable amount of time considering the relationship between all of these expressive elements. This work was created while always keeping in mind whether it was a building worthy of marking new history for Watanabe Obstetrics and Gynecology, which will continue for decades to come.
